Approach

Counselling provides a place to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours without judgments being made. It gives you a safe space in which to be fully heard. By working with a counsellor it is possible to look at blocks or difficulties being experienced and ways to move forward. During the sessions you will be able to speak in confidence in a supportive environment. Through sharing experiences it may be possible to see things more clearly, and understand any current life struggles.

Counselling is not giving advice or being told what to do. It is a two person process in which you are supported in exploring your experiences, with the aim of increasing your awareness and finding new possibilities.

My counselling uses the Gestalt approach which means that our sessions will be holistic, working with your whole experience - what you are thinking, feeling and sensing. The focus will be on your present experience; what is happening now. One aim is to increase your awareness and understanding of yourself, and your life. See What's Gestalt? for more information.
