Why counselling?

Most people come to counselling because some part of their life isn’t working as well as they want it to.

This may be for one of many reasons including:
- addiction, anxiety, dealing with physical problems, drink/drugs, depression, eating/food concerns, family troubles, gender issues, general unease, dissatisfaction with life, lack of relationship, loss, mistreatment by others, relationship problems, sexual identity, stress, work troubles.

When considering counselling it may be useful to think about some of the following questions:
- is there a part of your life which is causing you problems or making you unhappy?
- do you want to explore where you are now, and how you got there, in order to move forward?
- would you simply like to talk to someone in confidence?

If you can relate in some way to the questions, or reasons listed, above then counselling may be helpful for you. Counselling provides a safe space in which to explore anything that is causing you concern. By looking at your concerns alongside a counsellor it is possible to increase your awareness and understanding, resulting in new ways forward.
